Tech help needed!Dreamweaver!

Post by eduardo »

Hi,

This is a bit serious for this Forum but I'm looking for a bit of technical help.

When I'm using Dreamweaver I want to make my active links appear as just normal text with no underlining. I want that to happen only as a hover button which I've done.

How do I turn the underlining for the active links off? I have tried this in the CSS and clicked "none" but it isn't working.

If anyone can give me any help then that would be very much appreciated.

If I have understood u correctly then u need to define a stylesheet, call it in the document head and set the text-decoration of the active attribute of the a links as text-decoration: none and then when u create the link add class=bodylink in the case of the below.

for example:

a.bodylink:link {font-family:Arial; font-size:11px; color: blue; text-decoration: none;}
a.bodylink:active {font-family:Arial; font-size:11px; color: blue; text-decoration: none;}
a.bodylink:visited {font-family:Arial; font-size:11px; color: blue; text-decoration: none;}
a.bodylink:hover {font-family:Arial; font-size:11px; color: red; text-decoration: none;}

LINK

The above example simply changes the colour of the link from blue to red on hover but otherwise doesnt change it at all.

Hi Jason,

Thanks very much for taking the time to help. It's very much appreciated.

I have followed your instructions and it does get rid of the underline in the active and visited links but it now doesn't underline on the hover, which is what I was looking for.

I have set the text decoration in the hover astyle sheet to underline but this still doesn't work.

Ideally what I'm looking for is for the basic text links on something like the bbcsport website where the links are in the same colour but when you pass the mouse over them it stays the same clour but underlines.

I think I might be going about it the wrong way.

Any more ideas.

What I'm looking for is very similar to here on the threads. When you point the mouse over the link then it underlines. Take the mouse away and the underlining goes away.

Thats what I want to achieve.

Hope thats made it clearer but knowing my logic then it probably hasn't.

I have just changed text-decoration: none; to text-decoration: underline; and it works fine here - have a look at to see how it looks and if thats what you want. Assuming it is make sure what you have put is exactly as above including the space between the : and underline, the ; after underline and the } at the end

It is still the same as before. Obviously I am doing something wrong at my end.

I am fairly new to this web deisgn and HTML stuff so I will play around with it until I get there.

Thanks anyway Jason for your help. It was very much appreciated.
