say what you like but i think the british 60s/70s horror films even the series thriller in the 70s were far greater than the U.S. films like elm street/exorcist they appear so dragged out in comparison to me.

As a kid the Hammer horror tv series used to scare the shit out of me, particularly a show called The House that Dripped Blood.

yeah good one think its out on DVD now wasnt there 1 where they made out the house was haunted and it really was blokes weilding axes etc.

Hammer time.
Hammer films are slowly making a comeback in association with the noted Queensland-based PiP film company. Good luck to 'em, especially if they can make the equal of splendid, unpretentious genre gems such as The Plague of Zombies.

Wow! I remember that one too and I was similarly SHIT scared as a youngster, I have to admit that "The Exorcist" freaked me out totally too although I'm pretty immune to horror in general. "Pet Cemetary" was pretty disturbing as was a science fiction/horror crossover piece of nastiness called "Event Horizon" which was very good and very creepy.
I remember watching "Blair Witch Project" in the cinema and thinking, "This is complete shit, I wonder if everyone else is as bored as me?" On the way out all I could hear were comments such as, "Crap, " What a load of wank", "Did you think that was shit too?" and similar jibes which assured me I was not alone in my thoughts.
Of course when you enter adulthood NOTHING is as genuinely terrifying as letters from the Inland Revenue!!
