His syrup WAS mentioned at the stage door of Leicester DeMontford. He looked VERY peeved and the subsequent show was a stinker by all accounts.
I 'like' to think I, in some way, was partly responsible for that.

My best mate had a run in with this slag because he muttered the immortal line 'Do you know who I am?' when being told to wait being served a drink in a marquee a few years back.
My mate Nick said 'Your Brian May....or have all those drugs frazzled your memory?'

That's why I have never respected Blackmore as much as I respect the likes of Iommi, Gilmour, Lifeson etc. Well many reasons actually, firstly the rug is totally ridiculous, I never actually thought he was as good a writer and guitarist as people made out but, above all, his tendency to cut gigs short or play in a half-arsed fashion because he's pissed off is really not on. No wonder Ian Gillan can't stand to be in a band with him!
