I knew he played for the other team but who cares, and no, I didn't know he called his squeeze ' Bosie '. Have you read The Ballard of Reading Gaol ? I can not get through it without having a sob. Its fucking ace writing as the Queen would say ( if there wasn't anyone listening ).

Bosie was Lord Alfred Douglas (1870-1945) son of the 8th Marquis of Queensbury, who drew up the rules of modern boxing. Queensberry infuriated by his son's behaviour left a message at Wilde's club which, effectively, accused Wilde of sodomy. Wilde foolishly sued Queensbury for liable. Sir Edward Carson, later a prominent politician, represented Queensbury and destroyed Wilde in the witness box. A criminal trial followed and Wilde was sent to prison with hard labour for two years. He served his sentence at Readig gaol. Deano is correct Wilde's 'Ballad of Reading Gaol' is a masterpiece. I would highly recommend the 1960 film 'The Trials of Oscar Wilde'. Peter Finch played Wilde. James Mason played Carson and Lionel Jefferies gave a masterful portrayal of Queensbury.
