No, I didn't attend university in the '80's Dibble. A bit earlier than that.

What have you got against people who went on to higher education? I don't attack you because you didn't but because of your appalling right-wing sentiments. Are you trying to hide a feeling of inferiority. You needn't. I don't despise you because you havn't got letters after your name.

Btw what business ventures are you in these days? Still taking money off the punters and not delivering the goods?

"What have you got against people who went on to higher education?"

Nothing, as such. It's very laudable in itself. It's just the pretentious leftwing doctrines they tend to adopt when they get there in order to fit in and feel trendy, one of the SU gang. Just like one of those privileged anti-globalisation tosspots we discussed the other day. Many of those who adopt a pretentious left-wing stance at uni grow out of it, and in later life just look back on it as youthful silliness. Quite often they find themselves going over to 'the other side?. However, there are those that don't grow out of it, like you mart. They commit their lives to it with the passion of the zealot, often sounding like they have swallowed a copy of 'Das Kapital' spouting the odd slogan. Woe betide anyone who questions the divine word of Marx, for they are heretics, none people, to be cast out of the parties good grace and forevermore made to suffer the torment of the downtrodden and oppressed.

I have no problem with anyone who adopts a leftwing stance; it does seem quite nice and cosy on the surface ? all that working to support your fellow man and camaraderie. Working for they good of all. A nice idea, it just doesn?t work due to the nature of, well, nature, and more specifically, the nature of man. We are what we are today thorough survival of the fittest, constantly chopping away the dead wood of weakness and stupidity. If that process stops, man may go into a genetic decline, go back to where he came from. You can get a preview of what may lie down that route by visiting a particularly appalling ?sink estate? anywhere in the land.

But yes, on the surface, it looks a good ideal, a civilised ideal. I guess that's why respected forum colleagues like JJ and magoo lean that way. But the difference between them and you mart is that they are not zealots. They are rational and reasonable, and if I pose a point that there is no getting away from they will concede it. And of course I would reciprocate if it looked quite clear that there was a pressing need for a collectivist solution to any given social problem. This means we can have different points of view and kick observations and ideas to and throw like intelligent, civilised, colleges, without resort to name calling and childish vitriol.

Personally, I don't need any 'ism' in my life. I find I'm quite capable of making rational and objective social observations of my own, processing that data, and then reaching a conclusion. I don?t need to adopt anyone else?s ?ism?. I kinda stand off to the side of it all, looking in, fascinated.

?Are you trying to hide a feeling of inferiority.??

Well, certainly not here, I?m quite capable of putting down almost any verbal assault that may be launched against me. No, theses days I?m feeling pretty cool and laidback, and hey, you aught to chill out a little too, mart.

If you have bothered to read my previous posts Dibble you should have spotted that I think Marx was a tosspost. But no, you come out with your usual rant about the left wing etc. etc.
And the day I concede you are right is the day I top myself. Don't hold your breath.
