So I was surprised to find - on the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City soundtrack no less - the original song "Summertime" by Kool & The Gang. And, guess what? It's miles better than the hippy-hoppy version.
Which brings me to one of the great moral conundrums of out times. Recently I ripped my Bill Hicks CDs (a Prophet among men, taken from us way too soon) to my MP3 player, just so I could have his unique hatred and bile conveniently with me wherever I go
Question - could/should I rip Ms. Gibson's albums to my MP3 player, knowing full well that one day the wonders of Apple's Shuffle Play will segue one of Bill's rants against Debbie ("So what's your next song called? Mom, why am I bleeding?") into "Shake Your Love" ... ?
She turned 34 last week ... a year younger than me. Dang, I would still like to shake that girl's love all right, but these days probably a nice cup of tea and a game of scrabble might be more appropriate.
