Cookies help please

Post by Arnold Layne »

Since installing MSN, I've had nothing but problems ordering on line, whenever I try to order from play.com or the like it comes up can't connect to server etc, when I try to log on to my account, something to do with cookies? haven't a fucking clue, tried going in through internet explorer but the same, how do I uninstall MSN? as I can't even use it properly anyway, and the problems started when I installed this fucker, thanks

Before you implode maybe just a quick search on google under
"how to enable cookies" might be useful

Cookies can easily be found through start/settings/control panel/internet properties/privacy...the higher the security the less more cookies that are rejected

As everyones computer is different I always say...
computer problem...best answers on a computer forum

You might even find someone with the same problem and the same operating system

To Uninstall MSN.....Presumably you'll have a control panel with add/remove programs depending on what your operating system your using which you can get to by clicking my computer or start/settings/control panel

cheers

If your running xp arnie, you can remove it via the windows components in add/remove, control panel, it,s a pain in the arse anyway, what made you install it?......drugs/boredom, or a combination perhaps.....:-)

I haven't a fucking clue I've tried going into control panel, internet options etc like Deuce said, restoring defaults, but it just won't connect to a sceure server on anywhere I want tp order on line, getting on the site's fine, but once I try to log on to my acount at play or cd-wow, the slag aint aving it

Arnie, go into control panel, then add/remove programmes, then add/remove windows components, you will see msn and it should be ticked, untick it, and click apply, it will remove msn and should revert back to ie explorer, also go into internet properties, and set the home page to whatever you want, as msn has a habit of setting itself as your homepage.

Have you erased all your internet surfing tracks, cookies, caches, history etc?

The repeated messages even with the new settings could well be just old tracks being re-read by the pages

If not would pay to run a program like Disk Cleaner in
Miscellany/Lizards Locker/Removal utilities

Rather than using restore defaults just make sure all cookies are accepted
Should be in the privacy section under advanced/overide automatic cookie handling...just a matter of ticking and it will accept 1st party and 3rd party cookies

If you get a cookie problem after this then you'll know your problem is in windows and will probably mean doing a complete re-install Like I had too

On 2 previous occasions when I had problems with Internet Explorer 5 & 5.5 just upgrading to the next version solved it.When I got the same problem on IE6 only re-installing windows from scratch solved it

cheers
