Politics

Post by Deuce Bigolo »

Having read the ever increasing amount of Political Comments I've come to the conclusion that the reason that previous generations avoided the subject was not because it was argumentative/divisive but because it was

SO FUCKING BORING.....NOT TO MENTION POINTLESS

We each have our own perspective and very rarely are people persuaded that their political view is wrong

Like I said before, most spend their time discrediting the messenger rather than paying attention to the message.

But there still has to be a common denomenator that says, "This is wrong" regardless of where we are from.
I doubt many of us care for our own foreign policies as the truth is, most don't know how it may impact, if at all, on their lives.
Therefore it is easier to assume that just because something is not directly affecting you, it can't be bad and this in itself leads people to back up politicians.
If the knock on effect of a foreign policy is that it may lead to war, then people assume the war happened because "the bad guys shot first."

I do think there is a lot of ignorance on both sides and in both camps.
This blind ignorance makes people less questioning when the shit hits the fan.
Remember the Iran - Contra affair Bimmer?
Now when that came out, how the fuck did Reagan, Bush, Weinburger, McFarlane & Poindexter not get totally fucked into orbit? In fact Oliver North came out of it as an American Hero. How the fuck? Did we all miss something there?
Buz Sawyer was the original smoking gun in that whole scenario. He had Bush Snr's private number when he was pulled from the plane wreck.

BUT, and this is the big one, because the masses had no fucking idea how any of this could impact on them, they just took it at face value never realizing that millions of dollars worth of drugs had found their way onto the streets of the U.S. and the very politicians they were backing were responsible for it.

You guys were totally lied to and shat on.

Deuce mate

Deuce mate. Hows your election going there? Howard going to get back in?

I was trying to remember some of the previous Australian Prime Ministers and Paul Keatings name sprang to mind.

I remember when I was in the lucky country he came up with the classic quote of "this is the recession we had to have".

Absolute bloody classic that one. He should have been a comedian.

Bob Hawke. Gough Whitlam. I used to wind up the Aussies about him being sacked by the Queen and boy did they bite.

McMahon. Didn't he die of a heart attack whilst he was humping a pro?

Not sure if I've got my facts straight but no doubt you will put me right if I haven't.

Australian politics is a damn sight more interesting than ours. Heard some bloke calling Howard an arselicker the other day. Great stuff from him. Get the gloves off and have a go my son.

To be honest I don't think it will make a difference who ever gets in
You could be the best credentialled Politican in all policy areas but if Uncle Sammy catches a cold we do to

Then theres the fact that this election is for the federal govt
All the States regardless of which party is in power do there own thing
Then theres the Local Councils ding their own thing again

Whe its all said and done the less time you spend thinking about it the better

Probably some truth in what he said
Given how we'd been living on the back of the rural sector for eons
under the Liberals(Arse Licking Royalists)

A shedload of classic/infamous("2 wongs don't make a white") comments from Aussie Politicians here

He wasn't far of it...a Manager for a rock band before becoming a Politican
then it was onto his tax evasion scheme Pig Farming

Most of his speeches can be found here

If you liked that one then look out for the tapes/cds of Cactus Island
All the one liners including "Australias in danger of becoming a Banana Republic" are there

The Liberals in the Senate stopped supply so it had to come to a head
I'd imagine if someone did something similar today there would be civil war-SERIOUSLY

Billy Snedden...died while on active duty....on top of a kingscross prostitute

I suspect that comment probably came from the Labor leader Mark Latham about the Liberal Prime Minister John Howard and his relationship with Bush

Yes there were some colorful characters back in the 70s/80s/early 90s
as evidenced by the comedians who lived off sending them up

The best comedy example being the radio series Cactus Island

...the Australian version of Yes Minister

Its still active but even little Adelaide which loved it back in the eighties doesn't broadcast it anymore

cheers
