Not at all Crofter.
It's sad when anybody dies but I find it odd that people in similar or the same situation have had zero to fuck all help with the problem.
Reeves had millions poured into his fund. The U.S entertainment industry suddenly got all patronizing. He won more awards from "Oh isn't he so brave" since his neck broke than any time prior.
I also have no sympathy for horse riders. I refuse to do any work that involves falling off of horses; getting dragged along etc.
In fact, I refuse to do fuck all with animals or their wranglers.
Chris Reeves prior to the accident was a moody arrogant bastard, but don't just take my word for it.
Is it sad that Superman is dead? Well Supes is alive, it's Reeves thats dead so no I wont suddenly fall into the "Oh what a shame...poor man...brave man...blah blah man...arse kissing sycophancy", but don't let that stop you.
I liked the first 3 Superman films, other than that, bugger all.
As for Billy Connoly; cheap link dude. Connolly is an arrogant cunt who said something along the lines of "I wish they'd hurry up and do it."
Hardly the same thing smartarse.

So if you broke your neck and you carried on living. Would that make you brave, or just getting on with life?
A friend of mine had incurable cancer. At no point was the word "brave" used as he felt it was completely patronizing.
I agree with my mate.

PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?

Brainwashing Steve?
Get real.
How does my posing one question infer brainwashing?
Are you suggesting Steve has such a weak willed brain, that Guru MacGroyn can change the weight of the wind?
How have I made smartarse comments?
I've expressed a difference of opinion and not needed to resort to the typical kneejerk "Oh he was so brave" line.
Tell me Crofter, what made him brave?
The fact that he was in a wheelchair, paralysed and said "I'm not going to die"?
Dude, got news for you, he didn't really have a choice in the matter.
I'll ask you the same as I asked Steve. If you broke your neck and carried on living, would that make you brave?
Would you be a brave little soldier Crofty? Or, would you just be getting on with it like countless other millions have?
As for my not being in the "vast majority" of opinions. Crofter, really now, do you honestly think I give a fuck if I'm on 1% of an opinion?
I don't thrive on arguments but I love differences of opinion.
How many times have I backed up Bimmercats right to speak his mind when he has been on a 1% opinion? I may totally disagree with him on some issues but fully respect he has the courage of his convictions, even if I do believe his view is wrong.
So again, to be the 1%'er here, you mistake me for someone who gives a shit and feels the need to fall in line.
Once more regarding Steve, "if that is your opinion...blah blah" well seeing as my asking a simple question got him to look at it in a different way, hardly suggests brainwashing, more a kneejerk "expected" comment.

By the way, the smartarse was in reference to your lame Connolly connection.
That, Crofter, was crap.

Re: Christopher Reeve - R.I.P. Superman
And there I was thinking bravery triumphs over fear. For a working actor like Reeve to be struck down so savagely must have been - of all things - terrifying. Yes, as you say, thousands of others go through it without mention, and doubtless very bravely. Reeve had to deal with it knowing every reaction to his treatment and condition was in the public eye, and as it's been mentioned in the press elsewhere, his role of crusader for spinal cord research was something he was almost obliged to do rather than choose to do. He claimed to be doing it purely for himself, as if playing up to the wish-fulfilment premise of Superman walking again, but he probably knew it was always beyond reach, so the most he could hope for is for others to benefit far greater than he did sometime in the future. I see his mother has expressed both sadness and relief at his passing - finally free of all those tubes etc, so at least someone sees how brave he's been.
"Let's do it..."
