Hardly!
Yes, Geldof was a little Jagger-esque in his stage manner and the press of the time delighted in such comparisons, but the Rats were certainly NOT a "carbon copy of the Rolling Stones" - the music was completely different, and so were the band.

Which of their songs sound like the Stones????

Retro Don is correct, Geldof fancied himself as a poor mans Jagger and failed miserably.
The band did do a couple of good tunes before the overplayed and tedious 'I don't like Mondays' such as Like Clockwork, She's so Modern and Rat Trap

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

Presumably the Jagger comparison is due to the "idiot dancing" Geldof would do, a la the ugly old scrote.

The Rats weren't bad, and it's a shame I Don't Like Mondays has fallen out of fashion since it's a stonking song. Heard a Tori Amos cover of it recently, which was good---but nowhere near as good as the original. Oh, and the video was a landmark for the industry, with a nice Village Of The Damned vibe going on.
