Whether you are hunting or anti hunting then read this story which was in the local paper.
It's absolutely disgusting and to all intents and purposes this deer was kept as a pet.
I was brought up on a farm (until EU subsidies done us in) and this is something that has brought back some old and very bad memories for me.
I witnessed several wild stags getting torn to pieces as well as foxes and it is a very upsetting sight and lives with you for the rest of your life.
It's a topic that often causes major debates in our family as several are for it and several of us are well against it.
But I tell you if you ever witness such butchery which I have it makes you sick and how anyone can call it sport is beyond me.

But nobody is calling the killing of an unsuspecting young deer sport; this was an accident.
Obviously it's shocking and distressing to witness such an event, but isn't it just Mother Nature at work? Survival of the fittest and all that.

I am not having that one bit.
This was to all intents and purposes somebodies pet. It was kept in a barn on private land. Land which a hunt tresspassed on and butchered.
To get into the minds of hunts people and I know some from my school days then read the part where the huntsman didn't even apologise for it.
That is the arrogance of the majority of these people. They think what they are doing is justified and to hell with it.

Bollocks to that.
If they were wild dogs that just happened to live there, fair enough, but they were part of a hunt; therefore they were somebodys pet that went off the trail and onto somebody elses land.
If I was the woman in question, I'd have fucking shot the dogs.
No apology other than "Shit happens", again I'd knock the cunt out if I had been in that situation.
It's fuck all to do with hunting and more to do with the stupid Cuntsmen not having any control.
The sooner this fucking elitist load of bollocks and pedantic, psuedo snobby chav arse kissers are told to fuck off, the better.
I'm with Eddy on this one.

Animals, whether pets or not, kill other animals.
The pet cat we had in our family when I was growing up used to run up trees, catch birds and rip them to shreds. It's what animals do.
And we only have a very sensationalist local tabloid report of what happened in this case of poor little Bambi being butchered by the nasty toffs' dogs.

How is the report sensationalist?
"Mrs Van Minnen said the small roe deer had been born at the same time her husband died earlier this year."
Linking the death of the deer with the death of the old lady's husband - exactly how is that relevant?

Relevant to the point of saying it was practically domesticated and nothing to do with a hunt. In the same way that had the pack attacked her cat/dog etc etc
Now once again, How is it sensationlist.
You don't think the Hunt where in any way wrong?
As for your analogy of a cat going up a tree. Lame attempt at a parallel really.
As for survival of the fittest, well ok. How about I come to your house and take your TV and give you a beating?
Hey man, survival of the fittest.
Again, the analogy is lame in both cases.

They trespassed on the woman's property by mistake. The hunt, we can assume, didn't set out to kill that deer.
Of course the hunt were wrong; they shouldn't have trespassed and they should've made a full apology.
Comparing animals to humans is indeed a lame analogy. Humans, for the most part, operate within a society that has recognised structures of decency and restraint.
You and 99.9% of other humans know that breaking into my house and stealing my tv is wrong (not to mention the fact that I live in America and could shoot you dead in self defence!).
Animals, being the basic creatures they are, operate by instinct. They smell blood and fear, and they attack and kill. That's what they do.
