*sigh*
lived in London for 3 and a half years from Nov 1988 till May 2002 and loved it for the money & hated it cos people were so selfish !! .
But hey ho everything MUST be so much better than here in the `pool - enjoy taking the piss out of scousers cos it makes u so much better than us, and reinforces ur stereotypical prejudices of us poor northerners !

Re: Boris Johnson & Scousers
've been reading this thread with much amusement after being in Italy for a while with my other half,[top place] i can speak a bit of the lingo and was amazed by the similarities; i.e. the north /south divide, especially the way the northerners think of the Neapolitans, lazy, workshy, liars, thief's,etc.
Does'nt this sound a bit familiar?
Having said that ,years ago i was working in South Africa and a load of us were in Durban for the x-mas break, engineers, fitters, even a nuclear scientist [strange but true].
Picture the scene:twelve foot high surf bikini clad birds,90'degree's etc,
A gang of us were sat there thinking this is ace,the gang were from all over the U.k and Ireland and the only damper on the general conversation were from a couple of scousers going on about how great the crac was in Liverpool and how they wishd they were back there, bearing in mind that this was at the height of Thatcher!
Also the only people that got beat up or smacked by the South Africans were ............... scousers.

Isn't Boris the Tories shadow Minister for the Arts? I would have thought he would be visiting the pool anyway in that capacity, European city of culture or sumfink.

A bit harsh on Dodd, perhaps - he still lives in Knotty Ash (yes, it does exist) or so I'm told. But it is a shame the awful likes of Tarby, Cilla etc are always being seen as totems of Liverpool's cultural/public identity, especially considering some of its notable literary figures of near-past and present - Henri, McGough, Bainbridge, the two Schaffers, Bleasdale, Russell (but not Carla Lane, obviously).
