Just read an article in the Sunday Times about the rights and wrongs of protecting yourself and your property against scumbags. It quotes an incident where a chap was awoken by something going down in his back yard. He looks out of the bedroom window and sees two chavs breaking into his garden shed. Quick as a flash he?s on the blower to the local nick. The response? ?Sorry pal, we haven?t got the staff and we?re all busy here?? So, he rings the nick back fives minutes later and says ? ?Don?t worry about sending a car now. The jobs sorted. I?ve shot the fuckers".

Well, within five minutes he had half a dozen squad cars, an armed response team and a chopper-circling overhead. They capture the chavs, but the Police Inspector looks non to pleased and curtly says - ?I thought you said you had shot them?? The householder responds - ?I thought you said you were too busy??

That story did the rounds a few years ago, only substituting Chavs to Rednecks.

Could well be a myth, and the way it was put over suggested that this might be the case. But the point the article was trying to make is that the Old Bill, and more to the point, their local political masters, are not really bothered about chavs 'n' scumbags making decent citizen's lives a misery. But if ordinary taxpaying citizens (who pay both the Old Bill's and local government twats wages) stand up for themselves and defend themselves against the afor mentioned scumbags, the Old Bill will be down on them like a ton of bricks. So, what's wrong with this picture, and why are we standing for it?

I hate Chavs as much as the next man and have done so since before the term Chav's came about.
The thing is, this problem isn't just limited to Defence of the Chav Realm.
Cross section any "Ismic" tribe of society and the same rule applys.
The common denominator in every scenario is that the law is not just an ass, but a fucking cockscraping, retarded skank.

You want my young, uncultered, un-educated opinion? Well it goes like this; Fuck them at their own loophole.
A breaks into B's house. B breaks A's legs. A sues B....now this is the "Oh yeah! Why didn't we do that before" bit....B COUNTER SUES A & THE POLICE FOR DISCRIMINTAION.

Now technically, the counter game could go on indefinately. Kinda like aiming a camcorder at a TV and watching the image fade into shiteness.
Anyway, that's what you do.
That way, you get to cripple a chav; sue the chav and sue the cops.

Maybe the answer to the seeming inability of the Police to carry out their primary task is to make the Chief Constable an elected postion as in the USA(rathole that it is). That would give people the chance to decide how "Bill" performs when spending our taxes & make them directly accountable to their employers!
Our local "runt of the litter" would be out on his arse pretty sharpish. The response to everyday crime has been much as described by Dibble in his thread above. However, when faced with 3 armed robberies in as many months the fastest response time was 45mins, the worst over an hour & half! Our finest were too busy manning the regional speed "safety" cameras on the other side of the county!
Apparently it's a matter of resource management. Perhaps when next years council tax bill drops on my mat I should manage my resources more creatively & withold the police authority percentage until they can guarantee I'm getting the service I'm paying for.
