That's right Bimmercat, bang along with the same tired boring remarks. Do you ever read other peoples posts on here regarding guns and crime and the USA. Has anyone ever said that crime only occurs in your country, or that yours is the only one with guns?
Still, I mustn't be too hard on you. It must be tough thinking about another 4 years of Dubya.

Some figures I found on the internet:

Top ten countries as regards murders with firearms (per capita):
01. South Africa: 0.74 per 1000 people
02. Colombia: 0.52 per 1000 people
03. Thailand: 0.31 per 1000 people
04. Zimbabwe: 0.04 per 1000 people
05. Mexico: 0.03 per 1000 people
06. Costa Rica: 0.03 per 1000 people
07. Belarus: 0.03 per 1000 people
08. United States: 0.02 per 1000 people
09. Uruguay: 0.02 per 1000 people
10. Lithuania: 0.02 per 1000 people

Ireland is 26th, Australia 27th, New Zealand 31st and the UK 32nd.
The Netherlands are not even listed, but from another source I know the number of murders by firearms is 0,4 per 100,000 people or 0,004 per 1000.
Normally we are a peaceful country. Political murders are very rare in our history. Before Theo van Gogh there was the killing of Pim Fortuyn (not Fonteyn...) in 2002. Between 1672 and 2002 no one has been killed for political reasons.

What do these figures tell us? In my opinion:
1st. When firearms are easily available, your chances of being killed by one will increase.
2nd. Being governed by thugs (Zimbabwe, Belarus) helps a lot too.
