It's.......................alright(-ish). Bono screws up his famous line, others sound listless or underused (Robbie). It ends interestingly enough but the moment it stops dead for the first 'Feed the World' bit it becomes awfully po-faced, something the vibrant original cannily avoided. You didn't feel half-nelsoned into buying that because it was a genuinely good record. This time, however...

Its flat and has no feeling at all.......i think its a classic case of " flogging the idea to far" and it would have been far better to have completely come up with an original idea........maybe the talent just is not there any more.

1984 version - feeling, emotion, original, meaning, on the spot for the time and place !

Roll over Sir Bob and either let a new generation take over, or if they are interested then "let it be".

PIle o' crap (Hated the original too)

According to teletext, one radio station has banned it after complaints from listeners.
We have need of you again, great king.

Didn't buy & now won't buy

Didn't buy the first one.
Won't be buying this one either.

Geldof did it for me with his "give us your fockin' money" line.

These bloody 'musicians' are multimillionaires.

Stop taking the piss out of we poor peasants and give some of YOUR focking money, and get off the publicity band wagon.

So it's 20 years since Live aid. So the starving kids of then are now producing kids themselves. Yes it is VERY sad, but these bloody singers live a life far more luxurious than we mere mortals can ever dream of.

Hypocritical bastard the lot of them.

AND it is most certainly NOT *Sir* Bob Geldof. He's an Irish citizen so therefore ( and too bloody right too) cannot have an honour such as a knighthood bestowed by our Crown. Birth control might be the answer in some of these countries.... but them if he's Catholic he might be against it....

Your as ever,

Sid

It is pointless and hopelessly contrived.
The original was just that - original. It was born of inspiration and genuine conviction... it also was created at a glorious time for british pop. The artists on this new thing appear to been hand-picked more for credibilty reasons, with the odd teen fave thrown in the pot to make it appeal more to the tweenagers. It's going be number 1 all December preventing other more deserving tracks from reaching the summit (i.e. Kylie). Gee, how tedious.

All well as shit records, the world is crammed full of charities and needy causes... Call me a cynic, but what is the point in this?

I also don't appreciate the radio stations playing half-baked christmas tunes in mid-december, it's bad enough in shops.

Like anything 2nd time around....average

I see the Government is trying to score Political Points in donating the vat on sales of a 4 Dvd Boxed Set to the cause...bravo Tony...maybe matching the sales dollar for dollar would have shown your true belief in the cause

cheers

It still raises the point to me that where is "our" charity single?, you know one for all the kids that will be on the streets this Christmas in THIS country homeless & starving, begging, mentally ill, etc, but no'one says a thing, as that would be politically uncorrect wouldn't it? look at all the so called stars that have jumped on the bandwagon and most of em are shit anyway, all that business with Bono "It's my line I'm singing it" etc, when they should have been concentrating on really producing a new song, not try and jazz it up and make it hip by inserting some rap into it, publicity seeking schmokers, who's only real concern is making the public think they are nice caring people, it's all about image, "Tonight thank god it's them instead of you?" what the fucks that all about? it's just the same as when you hear there's been a plane crash, bomb gone off, on the news, don't tell me your not relieved when it's not in this country and it's far away when the bulletins finished, that someone you love or know wasn't involved, living in London I get it with every fucking bit of news, as family of mine work/lives in the city, should I feel ashamed that I was glad it wasn't someone I love/know? does that make me a fence sitter? I don't think so, charity begins at home as far as I'm concerned, and Bob & Co? how long would it take them to bang out another song for THIS countrys starving? instead of churning this song out AGAIN for what is it? the third time now?
