Just went to see The Opera, Lady Macbeth Of Mtsensk by Shostakovich, had a wonderfull time I do love Opera, anyone else in the group Go to the Opera.

Shostakovich's 13 symphony, Babi Yar is in my opinion the greatest choral work ever written. I must have been a Russian in my former life as I adore most things Russian, Russian folk music is wonderfull.

Well Lizard if you have Shostakovich in your music collection then why did you buy it, or if you did not buy it, why do you keep it if you think Russian Folk Music "sucks big time" Shostakovich's music is steeped in Russian Folk tradition, hate folk music then I fail to see how you can Like Shostakovich.

music originated from early folk music, traditional songs sung by common people as a means of entertainment. Each country has its own flavour, and all of music has taken influence by it.

It's not bollocks, Holden. Technically, it's impressive, but I don't get it---like poetry, ballet and mathematics, I'll never understand it; but a lot of people do. Some of the music is fabulous.
