Well dont bother migrating to Australia to escape that. We have two taxpayer funded national networks - the ABC ( like a smaller version of your BBC ) and the SBS which is a multiclutural network that is supposed to cater for our large migrant population ( it rates about 2% ). Both these networks are decidedly left wing. Thats fine, but why should I have to pay for them ?
They use all the usual tricks :-
Claiming that " Thousands of protestors turned up to denounce George Bush " when the film they show is of about 6 wankers crowding round a camera held at waist level. Between the 'crowd' you can see that nobody is behind them. This technique is used a lot.
Interviewing supposed impartial experts on WMDs while 'forgetting' to inform the viewer that the alleged expert is also a member of a leftwing political organisation.
Always giving the left wing person the final say.
Only showing documentries from people like Michael Moore and John Pilger. These are always presented as factual and unbiased for your education. Right wing docos would be laughed off as rubbish. I know, because I have rung up the networks concerned and asked why they dont take any programs from Fox. They tell me that its all right wing properganda. Yes, it probably is, but why not use it if they're so balanced ?
But when its all said and done, I get a kick out of ignoring the biased news reportage and voting for who I think will be best for my country. I voted for John Howard who is a right wing arsehole like me and gee it felt good.
