just seen a report on tv about rogue diallers, apparently they can be downloaded onto a pc without the users knowledge & dial up using premium rate numbers resulting in huge telephone bills.
Anybody know (a) how to check if your pc has been infected & (b) if infected how to get rid of the rogue dialler.
Any info would be much appreciated,
Geoff

Re: rogue diallers
For detection you can't go past adaware, spybot & cw shredder
For blocking bad sites spyblaster
For security zone alarm firewall
All available for free from
To check if your infected you can run run Hijack This(only after running all the above removal programs)
and post the log to either forum below if you want to absolutely sure
If you want to see how vulnerable you are try the tests at

Re: rogue diallers
they only work on dial up modems, so if you're on broadband no need to worry. The other simple option is to get BT to block all premium rate numbers, I think it costs a small fee (tenner a year or something)
