They joined the Army, when you join the Army or any other service you should excpect to be sent on active service most places around the world, Soldiers don't even consider the rights or wrongs of where they are sent to fight, only that they are excpected to fight any where the Government sees fit, thats always been the way why should that change now? I feel sick when I see that Governments have to appologise or personaly sign letters to the families who have lost soldiers abroad.

I am not heartless but when you join the Army you dont excpect to have your ass licked by Government and any one who excpects they do is a fool.
seems like where ever the Army are sent now days criticism follows, mite as well not have an Army anymore seeing as according to some people all wars are illigitimate. Look at the Army cut backs some of the people who want the Army pulled out of Iraq are moaning about the Army getting cut back, you can't win they are moaning Bastards, when you are in Government you cant win either way.

No wonder Sadam was rubbing his hands with all the protests going on in his honour, ligitimising his illigal Presidancy. I fear for this world we are bringing our children up in, everything Goverment does is wrong, while Dictators are not even critised anymore. If armed forces do not want to go to war then my advice is dont join the Army or other armed services, let this country and everyother country be without an Army, after all that what Micheal Moore wants then we can all live in happiness, linking arms with Sadam and any other kindly dictators we meet along the way.

Nobody is talking about the soldiers not being expected to fight. It's their job and they do it, and do it to the best of their abilities. The least they can expect, though, is some respect from the people who send them out there to die.

There was a time when the coffins would be returned, draped in a flag, and it was a sense of honouring the fallen. Now, the US military or the executive branch of the government doesn't want pictures of coffins being returned as it might be demoralising, and affect public support for the war.

That's what bugs me, the scant acknowledgement from poltical leaders that people they sent to fight a battle for them have lost their lives as a result. Presumably it took a signature to send them out there; so why can't they be bothered with another?

The Michael Moore defence is becoming rather stale and tired. And if you think that dictators the world over are free from criticism, you've been reading the wrong newspapers or listening to the wrong people. If Bush and Blair and all the other moral crusade advocates are slated again and again, it's because we expect much more of them than the Saddams and Mugabes and Assads of this world.

We should use the forth of July to declare our independence from America.

Difficult one this side with cowards IE Most of Europe, who let terrorists decide thier fate, Along time ago I would have agreed with you in principle on the joining of the UK to the European Union, but after recent events no thanks. Joining with corrupt cowards who's philosophy is if the populare mass fart follow that smell. I prefere some gumption from leaders.
Hold a referendum as soon as possible I for one would not vote for a further link to Europe as most of the UK population would agree.
