OK we know the media pick the innocents abroad for these programmes, but even so I find it hard that people can be so feckin stupid. I'm currently watching the series about the family from Yorkshire who move to Tuscany, buying an olive grove never having done any gardening (and we are supposed to empathise with them ?) and the 2 guys looking to buy a property in France.
NZ is a great country but it does have certain drawbacks. I came here twice on holiday, in total 9 months, before making the move. There are people who do it without even visiting then complain that they aren't given enough information/assistance.

Reality TV.....living abroad.
Re: Reality TV.....living abroad.
Those people get what they deserve in reality.
I'm thinking of moving from the UK, but to where I don't know. Because a holiday impression of a country is very different from living and working there.
I don't plan to work, just live, so I may just do the few months at a time and still keep the UK as a base. My provisional plans are to fly to Budapest and use the train to cross Russia/China, down to Korea and then Japan by ferry.
I've seen a lot of nice places, but as the old song goes 'I've never seen a sight that didn't look better looking back'.
