Legend is correct, besides boxing he was a Paratrooper , sw action in the Battle of Crete and ended his days a working director of Coca-Cola, Amazing when you consider he had never been to university.

ending his days? He was Head of Coca-Cola in Germany for many years before retiring to run a village pub where he regularly entertained boxing fans who gathered from all over to speak with him.

He was lucky to survive Crete. Paratrooper losses were so high that Hitler (allegedly) ordered that they never be used again.
