Its a bit sad that most of the obits. on here are of "celebs" like obscure rock musicians rather than people who have made a real contribution to modern culture. Arthur Miller was the one exception recently.

Whose to say who is more 'important' in terms of modern culture.
Probably more people watched Eastenders last night than have
watched all of Arthur Millers plays.
Anyway, for most of us on this forum, pop/rock music has had more
of an effect and influence on our lives than a playwright.
One mans obscure rock musician may be another persons hero.
Let me give you an example. My favorite album of all time is Love's
Forever Changes (1967). Two wonderful songs on the album were
written by Bryan MacLean, and I found out recently that he died of
cancer a few years ago.
He is what you may call an obscure musician, but I was far more upset
to find out he had died than to hear that Arthur Miller had died.

I don't want to start up a flaming war. Just commenting on the apparent greater concern about "popular" music than, to me, more important things.
I can't be bothered with prancing, posing prats catering to adolescent angst.
I understand that more people go to the theatre than football.

Now you ARE talking out yer arse Mart........again
For what its worth, I enjoy reading the O/T forum more that the British Girls Forum as its diverse with something to intrest everyone, so if you don't want to contribute, then don't post at all and subsequently don't piss and moan when others post trivia that obviously bores you.

Re: Obits.
Its very really simple Mart
By enlarge we're just regurgitating what the Media chooses to alert us too
How else are we going to find out about obituaries unless we happen to live in the same area as the deceased?
cheers

Re: Obits.
I don't want to sound patronising Deuce but reading newspapers helps.
The NZ Herald and the Dominion Post don't just have obits. of NZers.
But neither do the news sources where people read about the deaths of "obscure rock musicians" confine themselves to just those.

Re: Obits.
Thats all very well but the Point is
If you weren't aware of their achievements when they were alive why would you bother to post about them when they were dead
As I said its up to YOU to post such info because your not going to change the masses on this forum from their postings
The performing arts will always be over represented because their in our face wether we like it or not.Never under estimate the emotional connection performers make with their audience...the result...lifelong hero worship
cheers
