Major help needed

pretty new here but would appreciate some help/advice/soloution

i downloaded a shit load of mp3s via bearshare at the weekend and one of them must have been a virus or spyware cos when i try to access my yahoo and hotmail accounts i get redirected to a dodgy looking search engine

this search page also changed itself to my homepage but i seem to have sorted that

ive run updated versions of adaware, spyware stormer microsoft anti spyware and avg, they all find various things and delete them etc but it keeps happening

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Down load this and keep it running


it will stop your homepage changing, and any re direction, and buy you time while you find the trojan, an .exe file probably in system32 section.

Then run an online virus scan from
which should root the fucka out..

Anything I download, regardless of what it is and where it comes form is put into a folder and VC'd before anything is done with the files etc, even though I have a Virus checker running all the time.

CW Shredder is always worth running

I'd suggest you get clued up on your computers security before you head back into any other P2Ps especially the firewall part



Then theres this page for what the best trustworthy programs are to both prevent & remove such nasties

trying what you said now lizard....hope it works

think its a trojan called viking...steals passwords but cant use them and kills zonealarm...which it did

always scan everything i download but found nothing...didnt find anything when my probs began either

If it doesn't work then your next best bet is running 'Hijack This'
and posting the log to a spyware forum for analysis after running CW Shredder

Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions especially lizard as what he said worked great, everything back to normal except hotmail which just wont accept my password!!
