manic street preachers?
Re: manic street preachers?
...... and rumours of their talent were greatly exaggerated. I think they are a flash-in-the-pan type of band that hung around a little too long after the flash faded.

They were good on the "Everything Must Go" tour in 1996. Losing Richie must have tightened them up as a live act, though I think the "spirit" of the band,if you can call it that, has waned, but that probably has as much to do with the passing of time and the onset of middle-age. Good show in 96 though, Super Fury Animals were supporting.

About to undergo their second sell-out tour in four months - not bad for flash-in-pans etc. True, they don't have the same media profile of old, but they are still producing quality stuff (two No.2 hits of recent) and haven't yet acquired that 'ghost of christmas past' element that haunts other bands from the 90's (OCS, Oasis, Supergrass etc).
If anything they are heading towards the status it always looked like they'd achieve, like that of The Stranglers back then or Marillion now: a rabid fanbase, but ignored or hated by most others.

LOL!!! Looks like you did go to the same gig!!! Yes I totaly agree with you there. Little Angels were great that day, Billy put on a decent performance and Bon Jovi were good that day, but as you said they are poncy, gotta agree with that to... they kind of went down hill after that tour and album.
When the Preachers came on top open I got so bored I had to go for a walk and get away from it all. That Bon Jovi gig was broadcasted live on Radio One that day. But not the support bands.... Bon Jovi came out to one of Gary Glitters tracks..LOL!!!
