I'm in agreement with TLW. No matter how much I despise Blair and his lying, false Christian morality, the idea of letting those Tory arsewipes into power---and a return to the pandering to the greedy that was the spirit of the 1980s---is abhorrent.
The worst of it is that we're in danger of falling into the American way of things, a two party system where you vote for one to keep out the other.
The day I vote for the Tory party is the day they'll have to cart me away to the funny farm. While all (or, let's be charitable, most) politicians are slimy self-centred liars, the blue rosette wearers seem to me to be the worst.

Caractacus is right, they are all lying toe-rags, whoever gets in will change their minds with their election promises.....always happens.
I think John Smith who sadly died would have been a brilliant PM, and one I doubt would have lied or shit on anyone

Re: Forthcoming Election..
Who knows?
I despise Tony Blair and all he stands for.... I'm not too enamoured with Howard either, but I value my future and I just cannot see one under this current regime - Increasing taxes in every which way, pandering to the chavs
...and if you can find me a difference between a 1972 Rover 2000 and a 1973 one, or a 72 Ford Escort and a 73, let me tell you: one is a "historic vehicle" the other is not. This is clearly absurd. The tories will remedy this so they get my vote. This may seem a trivial issue but if I take my 28 year old RS2000 around the block to keep it running (I cover, maybe 400 dry miles a year in it) without paying ?95 for 6 months road tax, I am a criminal (and public enemy number 1, if you believe the hype). Is this fair? I have 4 other cars that are taxed at full wack all year round. Brown stopped the "rolling 25 year exemption" without any consultation or publicity. That is as democratic as it is fair.
I am being bled dry - that is why I will vote against these hypocrites.

I`ll be voting Liberal Democrat here in Southport.
There is no point voting Labour and I absolutely detest the Tories.
So I`ll be voting Liberal Democrat to keep the Tories out.

Blair has made "shitting on people" his life role.
The only difference between this crop of shit and the "tories" you all despise is 1) this lot pretend to pay lip service to "socialism"... this is not to say they practice it, they do not. Blair is more of a child of Thatcher than any tory ever could be. 2) They have no sense of respect or history, and would sell us all down the river for a headline. 3) They are intent on shafting everyone with hidden taxes until there is no quality if life left, other then to numb ourselves with "reality" tv and preservative-laden foods, whilst being told where to go, what to read, how fast to drive, what to buy etc etc etc

Re: Forthcoming Election..
LibDem for me - if I vote at all.
I'm not sure what their policies are - but at least they aren't Labour or Tory.
Ideally I suppose I'd like a low turn-out and a hung parliament. A low turn out to convince even the most pompous politician that they haven't been given a mandate by the people. And a hung parliament so that issues have to be discussed on merit rather than bulldozed through under the undemocratic "parliamentary dictatorship based on a minority of the vote" that we've got at present and which has been shockingly abused by both Thatcher and Blair.

What a pathetic basis on which to make your voting decision....... a load of tin boxes.

I'd argue with you, Mart, but I've concluded that you'll just argue the toss whatever when you see the name "retrodon", so I won't bother, hence the thread your petty quarreling managed to to halt only last week
Besides, exiled in NZ it's hardly relevant anyway.
And I wouldn't call hundreds of pounds in stealth tax per year irrelevant.

Re: Politicians-can't be any other way
Its the party machines that are too blame for the way Polticians are perceived & act IMHO
Even the untarnished ethical politician soon finds out Lieing is par for the course if you want your own legislation to become LAW.That is the whole point of being in Office is it not?
The best example is the fact that conscience voting very rarely happens
Everyone voting along party lines even when they are clearly opposed to it
Yes Minister why a great satire is a sad reflection of the reality of Politics
cheers
