I argue with people who I heartily disagree with. But I won't do a Dribbler and go "Nah Nah I won".

You should count yourself lucky Retrodon that the british Goverment haven't followed the Japs and banned cars over 10 years old not to mention charging you an emissions tax as well as a road tax

Won't be long in coming me thinks

The whole point of legislation such as the Japs is nothing at all to do with environmental issues and everything to do with (what is mentioned elsewhere) the "false" economy - forcing people to buy "product" by fair means or foul. It is unsustainable in the long run. People think, due to the amounts of credit they are offered and the things they could buy, that they have never had it so good when in reality every year choices are being taken away from us.
The current UK "buoyant economy" is a myth, and if the truth be told we are actually in recession with business having very hard times - though, naturally in these times of spin, lies and spin, this is not being reported.
They're locking them up today, they're throwing away the key...I wonder who it be tomorrow, you or me?

...which is why the Tories, who actually have a number of classic car enthusiasts amongst them, would get my vote. I could not vote for phonies who wish to take my freedom to choose away, but I do wish other people would wake up and realise this.

I never said the 2 were related just pointing out that there are far more draconian burdens already in place in other countries other than the usual cost of keeping a car or 5 on the road in a year

Its inevitable that Governments will eventually come after older cars to reduce emissions once they've beaten business into submission.

Your right that most westren countries are living on borrowed time
Just looking at Private Household debt to Income tells you where all the economic growth is coming from. Can't last for ever especially if the rest of the world tells the Yanks to stop over consuming and start paying for it now

Tony Blair has spent 7 years saying what he is going to do, and doing almost none of it.

Remember 'tough on crime and tough on the causes of crime" ?

Every day I read about hold ups in shops, burglary, cars being stolen,
muggings.

And the crimes are getting worse, the gang in kent who steal JCBs and
ram raid banks to steal the 'hole in the wall' machines.

We even have people whose cars are being stolen while they are sitting at traffic lights.

I think Blair and his cronies have brought anarchy to the streets of Britain.

(Mind you I do not think any other party are better, but we cannot let Blair get away with another 4 or 5 years of lying)

This government hasn't given us all negative equity at all. That may yet come, but let's not forget it's the Tories who are synonymous with negative equity through the late eighties and early nineties.

I ALWAYS vote for whoever is NOT in power.....I will vote Tory just to either boot Blair, Brown and all the wasters (saving Africa but my uncle has to wait 22 weekes to get his operation) out, or more importantly give the opposition a stronger say.............Don't forget that less than 40% of this country voted for a goverment with 176 seat majority !!

Simple vote for the not in power party and get fairer goverment !!

Also it would be nice to give Ally Campbell a kick in his cocky face !!!

i'm going to vote liberal democrat for the first time, at a general election. why? well... they opposed the war in iraq from the outset and they're also against the introduction of identity cards. we will always live in a two party state if people only ever vote for two parties (obviously, this circumstance is peculiar to england, where i live).

i'm happy to see that one of my musical heroes brian eno is thinking along the same lines. if celebrity is one of the more exchangeable forms of currency in our culture, at least he's attempting to spend it in a worthwhile manner. there's a piece about it in the local london rag today.
