Need Your Feedback on www.johnmasonstudio.com

Post by webmasterjms@coolpiranha.com »

While John's away, scaring young women in Portugal (somebody please phone their embassy!), we're breaking his site behind his back.

A number of people commented on the forum last week that they felt the images size was too small. Well, we're negotiating more server space this week and all future uploads will be larger. The question is, how large?

At the moment, the image is framed with forward/back buttons to scroll through and also an index button. We don't really want to go larger than 550 pixels at the leading edge. Any bigger than that and members would have to scroll down. The alternative is a new window which pops up full size in the browser but then needs to be shut down after viewing.

So I am opening it up to the group. How big before it is too big? Go on, this is your chance to influence one of the UKs biggest Brit porn sites!

I would suggest 1024x768 as this reflects the most common desktop setting nowadays. Most of the 'succesful' websites seem to be offering images at or around this resolution. I think that the need for forward and back buttons is dubious as your web browser can happily manage this function !

I would suggest you have a look at www.atkingdom.com as this demonstrates image quality/size over the need for 'gimmicks'.

I also think that the ability to download zipped sets is also a great selling tool.

Hope this helps

Well, why not just go to 550 pixels, then? A bit of short scrolling to view the whole pic. is not half as irritating as having a seperate pop-up to contend with. We all have enough problems with the unsolicited ones on free tgp sites.

Also making updates more obvious what and where the updates are. I must say also that the sets are very much of the same genre, cheap sets etc... OK some locations are expensive, but someone's flat/kitchen used over and over get a bit boring, no matter how tasty the girl is. Just my opinion, take it for what it is...
The Movie section is also rather hopeless as well.

I think smaller sets are the order of the day

I would much prefer to see 30 selective shots pics at 800 x 600 or larger than 70 smaller shots. If you are going to stick with the larger sets then i agree that a downloadable Zip option needs to be used.

Please bring back your A to Z index for non-members
If that wasn't the best selling point of the site then i'm a monkey's uncle. As soon as I saw who you had i was in like Flynn.
Now that I have already seen the site I don't know what I'd be paying for.

Every Paysite(those that deliver the goods)should give a decent preview not just a couple of high profile models who don't actually appear inside.

This is best illutrated by the a to z index.
The only ones that seem to utilise it are the free sites.

Most paysites if they used this would be found wanting paticulary those that offer three day trials.

Hmm. A mixed bag of responses there! I'll tackle the points as follows:

A2Z
This was a tricky one. Because we've got so much new material to put onto the site, the A2Z is going to be gigantic. So big, in fact, that we would run the risk of not getting anyone to sign up at all because they would just access the A2Z like a TGP. We are talking hundreds and hundreds of images all for free.

But we are rethinking that policy. It is a very good way of advertising who is on the site and certainly helps attract people.

Image Size:
Took a look at www.atkingdom.com and their images. Not bad. We are moving onto a bigger, faster server (which should have been finished today, but isn't!) which will enable us to offer bigger images to members. Essentially, server-side will stay the same but if you click on the standard image it will offer a pop up with the full size pic which the server generates for us.

And Buttsie, regarding the front page of JMS and Michelle Thorne and Linsey Dawn. They are both on the site, with plenty of material on Michelle shagging!

Updates:
We have introduced a new version of the pop up membership login where I can tell people when we add new material. New sets on www.johnmasonstudio.com are identified by the word 'new' next to the relevant gallery. The newest sets then load first, so older material is shuffled backwards. It's not very clear, though. John doesn't like writing things, and I forget about words and stuff.

Please keep all the comments coming. You have no idea how helpful this sort of thing is. Most sites never bother to ask people what they think, and we are not bothered by constructive criticism. Unless its about the way John dresses.

JJD.. As I am a webmaster and not a surfer

Post by Joe A »

I can tell you that you are very wrong about screen size.. 800 is still far more popular than 1024 or 1240....

In the same bag so many sites today use "Flash" and only a small % of the worlds surfers have ADSL Broadband to appreciate it so a lot of surfers go off elsewhere as they get tired of waiting for the screen to load. I tested one of my sites with a Flash and non Flash entry and the non Flash tour was far more popular and was the one that got the most sign up's.

Most webmasters optimise images today still at 640 x 480 but slowly 800 and 900 pixel images are appearing but then the surfer has to scroll down and that would mean him having to take his hand off his dick.. And the most important thing is, the images should be fully optimised. There are still sites that have images over 80k and on a 33 or 56k modem they takes time to load. The best size is around 30-40k but some programmes can reduce this to 16-20 and there is hardly any loss of quality.

Just my 2 cents worth..

I should have added your site excluded when referring to preview pages. As I said when I was a member i got everything You were advertising.

An alternative to the your original A to Z(which was way too generous) would be just simple listing like they have on celeb sites name only or preferably name and number of pics/sets.
