with the possible exception being "bawdy ballads"
I think the real reason these tunes irk so much is that others found them good enough to make them HITS

Oh, and anything by Eva Cassidy - I know she's dead, but that's the only reason most people (including myself) have ever heard of her. All of her songs were sentimental, mushy trash.
