I am making a compialtion DVD on my stand alone DVD+r recorder, for someone that lives in a far off place, Australia for instance, now I'm pretty sure that if I record it on my stand alone +R, then back it up on my pc using dvd decrypter, then burnng to DVD-R making it region free with "any dvd" which I have on my pc this will play back perfectly on a region "0" or "4" DVD player? just wanted to be certain to avoid dissapointment at the other end, thanks
DVD-R help please

Re: DVD-R help please
Maybe I'm wrong but I thought that DVD+R/-R discs made on DVD recorders,
were automatically region free.Isn't it only the major film distributors that
use regional coding technology? These home made discs should play back anywhere in the world.

Dude, just send it as is it and as long as Bu...I mean your friends player recognises it, then it's cool.
Most TV's can alter between NTSC & PAL thesedays so that shouldn't be a worry...unless he's a skinflint bastard with a TV with 4 knobs on the side and a slide control.

I'm pretty sure Australia uses the PAL system.

Re: DVD-R help please
One thing you might find a problem using a standalone...
I've had discs done on a Phillips standalone that don't play on my regular DVD player, I think because of the menu and auto-chaptering the Phillips uses.
If you do have problems, there's a piece of software called DVDLab which is very easy to use to put compilations together on the PC.
