As far as I'M concerned, Liverpool deserved it over the 2 legs. To come to the Bridge and grind out a 0-0 does deserve credit. They did the ONLY thing they could have in the second leg, get an early goal(?) and sit back and defend like their lives depended on it.
Without our 2 wingers, we could only try and drive down the middle, and with Hyypia and Carragher...it wasn't going to work.
However, you have to appreciate that Liverpool also played a few more games qualifying, so again, credit where its due.
Now this is where I have my REAL say. Drogba was a total flop, Robben didn't look intrested and JT and Frank looked shattered and on their last legs. Carvelho should have been carded for his rash challenges, and Cech was VERY lucky to stay on. I don't think the ball did cross the line, but not 1 single Chelsea player protested, so I begrudgingly accept it WAS a goal.
I HONESTLY hope Liverpool win it, but I cannot see it
We got the League and the League Cup.......and STILL have the Royal Flower Show, so all isn't lost!!

a very fair assessment from a Chelsea fan, good on yer!

Agree totally about Drogba - he was garbage, utter garbage. How many millions did he cost? And Kezman when he came on wasn't much better.

Seems strange to say it about the champions of England, but Chelsea look very short/lightweight/ineffective up front at times.

I'm sure a fit Duff and Robben would've sent the scousers packing, but without them you looked very ordinary.

Well done Liverpool. You kept your nerve, and it was good to see a return of something all too often missing from televised matches - genuine atmosphere.

'Twas a dodgy goal, sure, but just a single goal for Chelsea in the following 90 mins would've turned the game on its head, so they've really only got themselves to blame (or maybe pin it on Gudjohnsen - what a howler that was).

Mourinho's post-match comments showed all the ill-advised, high-gloss contempt only mountains of other people's money can buy. Perhaps the purchase of a new lucky coat was needed.

Now, the final...

it may or may not have been a goal, but justice was done because if it hadn't been given then surely a penalty would've been, and the goalie been sent off in all probability. all in all i think the ref had a very good game, given the atmosphere and importance of the game. i await to see if the FA Cup final ref can be that good, somehow i doubt it !!

it was great, i watched it with my brother, a chelsea fan, so even more sweet.

how anyone can say the ball didn't cross the line i don't know. it looked in, all the commentators/pundits said it was in. and most importantly, i don't recall many chelsea players protesting too much. I've seen far more debatable 'did it cross the line' goals before, maybe it wasn't as blatant as the goal spurs didn't get against united, but it was in. the positioning of gallas' feet on the goal line showed it must have been in. anyway don't care either way, chelsea couldn't get the ball an inch over our goal line let alone a whole ball.

weeelll... sky ran their state-of-the-art 3-d matchplay simulator over it before tonights ac/psv ding-dong and, if your prepared to place your faith in this sort of technology, (apparently it's in the region of 99% accurate) it shows that not only was the ball nowhere near over the line but the linesmans view of things was pretty poor at best. not that it matters now...

still, it does make me think that there is a strong case for having this sort of technology available to the referee during the game, if it's proven to be accurate enough and can do the job more or less instantaneously. anything that causes a delay of more than 30 seconds would be unacceptable, imo.
