Men and Motors

Post by Lizard »

what do forumites think of the govs proposal re charging for milaege? I think it could be alright, as long as you dont travel at peak time, and dont use any motorways, or live in or near London, Manchester,Bristol, Leeds, Birmingham, Sheffield, Newcastle etc, or drive on any UK motorway, or main/trunk roads, and only travel after midnight and before 6am.
Well all of the above suits me, I only come out after dark, use false plates, and never drive meself unless I have to, so! with fuel at 47p a litre and no road tax......sorted!

i'd prefer to see a charge for all journey's made under one mile. That would have a massive effect on serious clogging in cities and pretty much end the pointless school run.
On top of this a lot of fat lazy oiks would get fitter and stop the drain on the NHS

we are Leeds.... , and we can still beat the mighty Chester

Lifes a bitch dippo, instead of pricing people of the road, I have always though about taking more cars of the road, raise the age of driving to 21, take all cars over 15 years old off the road, or tax them extra (dont moan at me all you 20year old escorts bods, I have a 24 year old vehicle as well as me beemer)and thirdly make people take a driving test every 10 years, that would see a big reduction in road traffic over the next 10 years, and make people better drivers, and raise some extra cash..

Ah yes, the school run. Numerous paranoid mothers driving their little darlings that dangerous, pedestrian-friendly 300 yards to school, and complaining about all the traffic outside school gates.

And they wonder why childhood obesity is a problem!

As for the congestion charges, any poor sod who works in, but lives outside, a major city is going to be hit hard. The south-east of England in particular will be badly hit.

Naturally, I'm in favour :-)

Arghhhh charging for motoring really winds me up!

I feel the only way forward for the great British public is Wind Power! I am about to create a vehicle constructed of wood that by use of a sail will be propelled toward Devon via the M5 at a vast pace. It worked for Sir Walter and Chrissy Columbi and even good old Fred of the Flintstone made his way round the world with wood and wind power.

If the government green double dipps believe my 4X4 is a fuel guzzling monster fcuking the ozone and clogging up the roads they may re think their approach towards an answer when they see my all green ozone friendly wind powered tree hugging luvXluv machine on a bank holiday Monday.

I may even build an under carriage and pull the old 6X8 behind it?

FiaS

Watch news at 10 this summer you?ll see me and the mrs on the M5 under sail power rippin it up big style!

Caravanners are bad enough, but roads clogged up with sail-driven shedders? Doesn't bear thinking about.

Fuel without tax would be about 20p a litre. Meaning many people will in theory drive more, not less. Also anyone owning a diesel will feel peeved as the main reason they bought the car is likely to be cheaper fuel.
George Orwell will be happy as your human rights will be zero if you have a tracker device in your car. Maybe the government could look at improvong public transport, sorry I am dreaming again.......
