Have you tried downloading MAME? I could never find a working ROM of Galaxians or another oldie I loved, Phoenix, but most of the old classics are available if you dig about a bit.

thanx for the link.
it's possible that i was the best (i.e. most deranged) galaxian player in the world in the early 80's. more than once i past the 100,000 mark without a man down. happy days...

Before Gadget Shop closed for good, you could buy a consol that plugged into yer TV and had Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Asteroids, Galaxian amongst others. Primative by todays standards, but for us 40-somethings, brilliant.
I believe Argos also stocks this with the same games at about ?25

Sounds like a blast
Give me a simple shoot em up/collect power ups anyday over games 'mimicking real life'
I didn't like games 'mimicking real life' back then and like them even less today.By that I mean how the US army are using a Video Game to get recruits-no bullshit
cheers

What's this---a new version of The Sims? Cannon Fodder?
I always liked games you could lose yourself in for hours at a time. Many a happy hour wasted playing Pirates, for example. But I also recall using Double Dragon as a way to release tension.

Its was in a doco about how the US recruiters get their target of 3 per month. The video game is the number 1 way
Apparently the game is number 4 in popularity and the recruiters set up free Pizza nights to entice the kids to come along and play
The game basically simulates house to house, street to street fighting...IRAQ in other words
The sales technique was beautiful....we have all kinds of jobs in the army so that doesn't mean you'll be fighting anywhere & 117,200 Americans die every year in the US of A in various unnatural ways compared to IRAQ....brain washing...sure enough...the exit polling the camera crew found a few that thought it a possible career option
cheers

Given the amount of people they're losing in Iraq, and Afghanistan, it's no surprise they're so keen to introduce some, ahem, new blood.
