interestingly i noticed only american performers performed new songs rather than sticking to previous favourites / hits.....
scissor sisters were said to be the only ones to play new material, but mariah did perform her current single...and i saw even will smith in philly say "this is my brand new shift" or something like that...kanye west did his new single.....
yet most british groups didnt take this route at worst just playing a hit from the past 12 months.
velvet revolver - love them, but not the ideal place for them to perform, wonder how many ppl actually knew the guns n roses connection? having said that - they chose not to perform any new material so well done lads. hehe

The BBC online reporter in Philadelphia made reference to all the stretch limos and tour buses belonging to the performers there, suggesting they hadn't exactly left their egos out of the mix.
It didn't come across on the TV coverage, but la Carey's diva behaviour--- the masseuse bringing on her water, the call for the mic stand etc---led to a lot of booing. Get the impression the kids' choir were all that saved her from a major dogging. And yes, she was incredibly patronising to them.
This diva thing impresses no one over here. The Careys and J-Los of this world can make whatever outrageous demands they want when they appear, but they're just going to seem like ego monsters rather than "stars." No matter what the label on their dress, or the cost of their jewellery, they'll never have the simple class that a true star displays.
(On a side note, if the likes of Carey can make whatever demands they wish, and someone will go running immediately, it makes it clear why there was no one in Michael Jackson's world able to say, "This isn't right, mate." Top US entertainers are almost deities in their own minds).
