As a teenager I used to wonder why John went for Yoko when he could have had half a dozen groupies every night. And now, as a much more mature man, I still think he should have gone for an endless supply of meaningless sex !

Never studied Classics, but did a BSc in Economics & Politics at UEA, then a BA in French at Kingston Poly (as was) and a Masters (on Proudhon and the revolutions of 1848.... in French) at Grenoble where I also lectured in international relations (mostly SALT II and Lebanese crisis as that was back in 1984)

Part of the politics course at UEA was early political philosophy, so I read a lot of Plato, Aristotle and Cicero.
