Re: long john baldry [60s blues singer]
Not many people know this.
Elton John was called Reg Dwight when he was just a piano
player in various bands.
He wanted to change his name and was playing in a band
called Bluesology with Long John Baldry and Elton Dean
(saxophone player).
So he took the "Elton" and the "John" from each of them and
so a legend was born.
Could just as easily have been Dean Baldry I suppose.
