I was wondering that myself, why don't they kill them outright first. The only reason I can see is they actually find it entertaining in a perverse sort of way. It doesn't say exactly where this was filmed, but I guess it's China ... not known for upholding Human Rights, so I suspect animals don't even get a second thought. Maybe we did similar things in this country in the middle ages - and that's where a lot of China still is, culturally speaking.
