I was in Woodhall Spa, Lincs over the weekend on a golfing trip. We had a curry on Sunday evening then wandered next door to a bar for a bevvy or 3. We ordered a round at 10.10pm and were shocked when the rather cute barmaid said last orders was 10-20!! What the fuck? This is the 21st century, not Victorian England? In my town at least half the bars have Midnight or later closing....
Anyone else live in a temperance zone?!!

Re: 10-30PM Closing Time!!!
all pubs have a 10.30 licene on a sunday, they have to apply for a late licence to a magistrate for extensions to that which costs cash. If it's just a little local then the extra five beers they're gonna sell is not worth the effort, most pubs out of large towns are like this i've found
we are Leeds.... , and we can still beat the mighty Chester
Re: 10-30PM Closing Time!!!
Alot of places round my way close at 10.30pm on Sunday and some a little earlier.
When I asked why then I was told that most of the pubs are busy during the day but come 7pm-8pm then most go home to nurse their hangovers as they have to work the next day and hence the pubs are all but empty.

Re: 10-30PM Closing Time!!!
Current opening times are 11am to 11pm Mon-Sat and 12.00 to 10.30pm Sunday + 10 mins drinking up time. The changes that come into force in November ie the much talked about 24 hour opening probably will not change anything too much as most local councils will be loathe to extend hours too much.
Also anyone who has not put in their application to change from the existing Magistrates licence to a Local Government licence by August 6th will have no licence come November. The last I heard, less than 10% of licenced premises had applied and although a lot will put them in during the next 2 weeks, you may find your local serving soft drinks at Xmas.
I have been involved in applying for a new licence and with the costs of alterations to the existing licence, the cost of proposed changes to opening hours on the new licence, cost of personal licences, the cost of having 8 sets of floor plans drawn up and solicitor fee's, it has cost ?2400. If you are not changing anything on your licence, already have floor plans and make out your own application it will cost a lot less.
Drinking up time I believe disappears so if the closing time stays at 11pm that means you are out of the door at 11pm.
