"Moondust"

Post by mart »

In the context of the current space drama its interesting to read "Moondust" whose author, Andrew Smith, sets out to chart the subsequent history of the remaining nine (out of a total of twelve) astronauts who landed on the Moon between 1968 and 1972.
They had navigational computers with less memory than a mobile phone and they were paid $8 a day minus deductions for their free bed and board on Apollo.

The author writes in a down-to-earth fashion, keeps both feet firmly on the ground and avoids flights of fancy.
