Re: pope wants immunity
your quote about Catholics is about as acceptable as saying
blacks = muggers
blacks = muggers
we are Leeds.... , and we can still beat the mighty Chester
Re: pope wants immunity
I'd say the same about any religion, so it wasn't biased towards Catholics. Religion is only there for the benefits of those in charge who revel in control, power and wealth - it has little to do with any god as far as I can see.

Its strange the way that the media can mock the catholic or indeed christian church and there is little or no outrage.If the ridicule of Islam was shown on the BBC for example no doubt the corporation would have a jihad on their hands.Also I think up in Birmingham there was a play that questioned some aspects of sikhism which led to mass protest and the play having to be pulled.

Re: pope wants immunity
Thats because the Muslims have nothing like the Twin Towers for crazed Christian extremists to fly into. What are they going to destroy? The mountains of Pakistan?!
I guess the US got their revenge for 911 with Iraq. lets face it man, it all boils down to oil!
I would have respected Bush if he came out and told the truth:
Fuck it they got us today but lets get some payback boys! Lets get that oil!

Re: pope wants immunity
if it wasn't biased towards catholics why say all catholics are perverts?
the poster was a little jibe at religion, that's fine, I agree with a lot of that not being very religious myself. but to make such a nasty sweeping statement I think is unacceptable, if you had said after the recent bombings
''all muslims are just evil murdering terrorists''
you would have been rightly flamed, why is it you feel that you can make similar statements about christians?

Well maybe I should qualify the remark by saying I intended it to be applied to those people running the church/religion, not as a blanket slur against Catholics per se. Seeing there are 1.3 billion Catholics worldwide, it would be hard for them all to be perverts. But I still believe the Catholic church is an evil institution that has perpetrated more than it's fair share of abuse/violence against women and children worldwide.
Re: pope wants immunity
As just one example ... look at The Magdalene Laundries in Ireland, where it is estimated 30,000 women were imprisoned, some for life, to serve as slaves of the Catholic Church
With it's history of violence and endemic sexual/physical abuse the church should be sued out of existence. Ask anyone who was brought up in a Catholic Children's Home in the 70's and 80's what opinion they hold of priests and nuns, or the church in general.
