never seen it before - and dont know how to replicate it....but the first letter looks like a smile and the next too kinda look like a tongue heading towards a rather V shaped area....ahem, i hope thats right otherwise i need to get my mind washed out wtih soap

Could mean nothing at all ... just looks like you've not got support for a language that is supported on the senders machine. If the person spoke Hindi and sent you an email it would look like that whereas Chinese/Japanese display as blocks. If you go into Regional and Language options in the Control Panel you can install support for East Asian and Complex Script languages.

The guy who sent it was UK based a photographer infact! I've done the usual google search etc, but couldn't find much. So i think its some smiley symbol of some sort!

But yes, it looks geramn/scandinavian too me!
