O/T Technical Query

Post by lurker »

Help!

After installing some software I reckon it did some
subtle reconfiguration of Internet Explorer. For
that reason, I can no longer use it to access forum
pages, though it reads static HTML just fine.

I got around it by downloading and using 'Opera.'
Still, its annoying - does anyone have any ideas ?

Which software did you install? Which version of IE? Which OS?

IE 4 on Windows 98. The offending installer was
Easy CD Creator 5, for heavens sake !

When I follow a link like:
http://bgafd.co.uk/forum/read.php?f=1&i=37560&t=37545

I get the usual "web-site found, awaiting reply" message
then nothing. Boy am I sick of Microsoft right now!

Try upgrading to IE 5,5.5 or 6

Every time I get into trouble the helpdesk always say upgrade

The problem is with IE4 compatability. I suggest downloading and installing IE5 (not IE6). You may find it on a magazine cover CD to save downloading. And, although I'm sure this is not your case, the cracked version of Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum has a fault in it. Better still, do away with Easy CD Creator altogether and install Nero. Opera is a good browser, it even has in-built pop-up killers.
