The Ashes Decider from an Aussie

Post by Deuce Bigolo »

If the Aussie win this I'll be suprised although I do think they are a chance simply becaue it is possible

The bottom line is,we haven't got an attack to take 20 wickets

No I'm not conceding the ashes but common sense says it will be a draw
unless the English don't believe they can win

A hard fought tussle that with ups & downs before ending in a draw

Someone warned me 3/6 monthas ago that Freddie was the man and I as a Convict Upstart dismissed him as a reasonable playerbecasue I hadn't seen him playing regularly

PS expect to see Aussie bowlers leave the field after their bowling spells ala the English Bowlers ;-)

Hi
Rain is forecast for Friday and Saturday in London, so it will take a couple of bowling performances like the last innings at Trent Bridge, together with poor English batting, for Australia to win this. By rights, it was the weather rather than their own efforts that saved Australia from defeat at Old Trafford. They deserve to be 3-1 down already. If England lose this now, they will only have themselves to blame.
Cheers

Only light showers are forecast for Thursday/Friday and Saturday/Sunday are supposed to be dry and bright so I'd get the idea about the weather out of the way now.

There will be more than enough time for a positive result.

Really I can't see why so many people are going for the negative option. England have got here by playing positive aggressive cricket and it would be stupid to change that now.

I believe a lot will depend on the toss. Whoever wins it will bat first and if it's a typical Oval track (and by all accounts it is) then they should rack up a big score. If that's Australia then scoreboard pressure (and the situation) could get Australia (and Deuce) the 20 wickets they need.

Initially I was against putting Collingwood in for Jones (he is out) but Anderson is a bloody liability.

Now Deuce don't get tetchy about the bowlers. Some of us are old enough to remember an ageing Dennis Lillee putting his feet up and having rest breaks in an Ashes series so what goes around comes around.

My opinion is that Simon Jones injury has given the advantage to Australia unless England can win the toss and bat first.

I'll agree the toss is all important as the only way the Aussies will win is with them bowling last

Lillee was just feigning injury so he could a bet on the match-I'd believe that

losing jones is a blow, but i think england are batting well enough to get the first innings total they need to get at least a draw. i agree that the toss is important, but even if australia bat first i still fancy harmison and flintoff to cause them problems with their bounce.

Lillee was going off and having showers in between his bowling spells if Ian Botham is to be believed.

Ponting's rant was that of a man buckling under the pressure and all that did was give England more confidence.

I just hope that England don't start to think about the enormity of it all and what they can achieve because if they do then the occasion could get the better of them.

Toss Lost..ashes lost in my humble opinion

England 0/61,having seen off some wayward pace from mcgrath, lee & tait

Why they didn't start with Warne to open the bowling given how both openers hate facing him is beyond me

Australia without Warne & an Unfit Mcgrath wouldn't bowl England out in a Year

It's a but early to say that mate.

Sure the toss was important and England have made a good start but things can change around very quickly. Add that to the speed the game is played these days then provided the weather doesn't intervene then there is usually time for a result.

That said I'd much rather be in our position at the moment but we'll see how it goes.

I told you to wait and see. You Aussies are bigger whingers than us.

I have to agree about Bell. I still believe that he will be a good player for England in the future but now doesn't appear to be his time.

He looks a bit overawed by it all and out of his depth and Warne certainly has his number but then he wouldn't be the first there would he.
