Best guitar solos?
Re: Best guitar solos?
Highway Star - superb
My favourite Page solo is on Travelling Riverside Blues from the BBC sessions - had a sense of musicality and a flowing feel that I didn't feel in much of his work
Favourite Gary Moore is during "Lament" on Colosseum II's "Electric Savage" album
Favourite Steve Howe steel guitar solo is at the end of the battle section of Gates of Delirium (live version on Yesshows)
Gilmour - perm any half a dozen from many
Hackett - Everyday (from Spectral Mornings)

Re: Best guitar solos?
Others would have to be :-
Prince - Purple Rain
Dave Gilmour - On The Turning Away, Sorrow & Comfortably Numb
Jimmy Page - Since I've Been Loving You
Gary Moore - Still Got The Blues
Todd Rundgren - The Ikon
Joe Perry - Livin On The Edge
this is to difficult, there's to many.

Re: Best guitar solos?
Dave Gilmour - Comfortably Numb - Head and shoulders above anything else
Steve Vai - For the love of god - Best technical guitar playing, and brilliant live
But as others have said, way too many to list

Keep smiling
Re: Best guitar solos?
OMG you heathen's no one has mentioned Angus Young AC/DC when he does that live thing and then shows his ass, it's fukin nuts.
Gilmour is God.
Good to see lots of bigging up of The Gilmour. There are obviously a lot of people of impeccable musical taste around these 'ere parts.
The commies are noticeably quiet though, maybe they are all playing their Billy Bragg lps trying to find a killer solo among the bullshit politics!!

Re: Gilmour is God.
If they were looking for a left wing polemic axe god, it'd probably be Paul Weller rather than Billy Bragg.
Why bring politics into a musical thread?
Caught some of the Last Night of the Proms. If you're talking guitar gods (and Gilmour is certainly one), don't forget classical genius John Williams. It was incredible watching him play Rodrigo's Concerto---something Brian May, who was there for the occasion, said he'd never been able to do.

Worst singer of recent times...
I thought i'd turn this topic on its head, and nominate Ian Brown of the Stone Roses; he makes the contestants on X factor look talented.
