bon jovi new album

Post by jeffhaskeft »

just listened to their lastest album 'have a nice day', it's not bad but i wish they would take a step away from their 'tried and tested formular' like the album 'keep the faith' it was a more fresh sound.
i still think slipperey when wet was their best ever

I don't think JBJ will ever try to venture beyond "tried and tested" ever again, he doesn't need to. The band have a massive fan base that love what they do, it is commercial (and dare I say banal) enough to appeal to those consumers who don't like music that much that they don't need to change, and they will rock on into old age like a glossy US Status Quo. "Keep The Faith" was released at a stage in their career when they needed to reassert themselves to a rock audience, coming in the wake of the grunge onslaught (which put to bed all the cheesy hair metal of the time such as Warrant and Poison) and Bon Jovi had to distance themselves from the spandex scene without alienating their existing audience, JBJ cut off most of his hair and they went from strength to strength.
I was never a big fan but they've had their moments, it's 10 years to the month since I last bought a BJ single, "Something For The Pain".
