not at all, the thread is about the artwork on the cover, not the music, no one buys a record because of its cover, and anyone that does so for a book is a numpty

I've done both, because I wanted to own the artwork.

You're right up to a point of course, though the sleeve can act as a deciding factor for the wavering or casual consumer, another of its functions.

Artwork that is eye catching will make a consumer pick that product up

That gives them at least a 50 percent head start on everybody else given the saturation of leisure items

Happened to me when trying to pick a book to read

Multitude of titles & genres to choose from but the artwork on a book by Janny Wurts

was like honey to a bee

The books were as good as the artwork which is a lmost a rarity thesedays

Lets not forget that the humble cover of a porn flick has a huge chunk of time spent on it because in many cases thats what will sell it

Pink Floyd of course!! Animals! Also the debut Black Sabbath album, a perfect marriage of sound and vision. I've always loved Jethro Tull's "Thick As A Brick" cover too, now THAT is clever.

Pink Floyd - Any of their albums had good art work! But my favourite is Wish You Where Here
