I didn't see it as I have it on DVD - arguably one of the best films ever and in my top 3!!!

However, it does contain one 'plot hole' that annoys me everytime I see it, when they are in Andys cell near the end searching for him and the prison governer throws something at the Rita Hayworth poster and it goes straight through and reveals the tunnel...... how did Andy manage to get the poster pinned perfectly flat against the wall from inside the tunnel when he escaped? it can't be done.

It can be to an extent ;) it depends what ur sticking it with ;) bluetac no way, but sticky tape ? pretty easy, roll it around ur finger, slip ya hand down to the edge and voila ;)

Also you have to allow for the air pulling the poster flat to the wall, so a big hole may have pulled the poster thru, but the right size, would pull the poster flat to the wall and help stick the tape too :P

Like i said depends what ur sticking it with :)

If you're too factual we will not have many films. Not much chance that he would never have been moved to another cell during all the years he was digging or the Warders would not have leant on the wall when searching the cell at least once.
Watching The Return of the King and at the end Gandalph rescues Frodo and Sam with the giant eagles, thought why didn't Gandalph jump on one of the eagles at the start of the film and use it to fly to Mount doom and dump the ring, no mass killings in Rohan or Gondor and no film so we suspend belief to enjoy the film.

well said :)

I tend to think "How can it have been done" when i come to a plot hole as decribed above :) but urs sounds less geekish :) so WHAT HE SAID :P

Suspension of disbelief is fine in some cases; in others (and yes, Independence Day, I'm talking to you), it's simply impossible without your head doing a Scanners impression.

wow! sounds like you've actually tried it ;)

andy dufrense did have 19 years to get it right though so I guess it is possible.

it really isn't a major thing, i was not even aware of the 'plot hole' until someone pointed it out to me and it definitely doesn't spoil the film, far from it infact i think i'll pop the dvd on one night this week.
