There are dozens if you think of so called tough defenders in fotball who diid nothing more than hack their opponents down
From yesteryear its got to be those 2 German Defenders
Jurgen Kohler(cut van bastens career short by 4/5 years with all those from behind accidental studs in the achilles tackles)
Harald Schumacher the goalkeeper was an expert at decking anyone game enough to contest the ball in the box with him bearing down.More often than not he only had eyes for the opponent
Both were out & out cowards in my book
Roy Keane for that awful pre-meditated attack/tackle that he revealed in his book...gifted player but dirty play is never far away if it means the difference between winning & losing

That being a criterion, that vicious Chelsea thug on Saturday deserves a mention. Over the top tackle, followed through with studs on to leg, then went down as if he'd been injured, and got away with a yellow card. Call me naive and unrealistic, but I wouldn't have a player as cynical as that in any team I could support.

Howz bout daft buggers wanting to slap TV, pop and sport personalties they have never met?
Shared some space with the mad monster Vinnie the hatchet Jones back in 01 up in Leeds at the MTV lick party. What a bang on bloke off camera nothing like his rep.
Also shared space with Nigel the gangsta Ben down at Ministry and again bad for the camera's but what a top bloke in day to day.
Then again spent New Year 99 with Scary Spice and what a scary animal 24/7 needing a right dirty slapping all night long (Uekanooba).
It's a strange world that builds up bad gangsta shooting modafo's who in day to day are straight ace!

For mine the referees allow too many illegal tackles before pulling out the yellow,the players know this all too well and milk it to the full
During the recent world cup in 2002 the former Aussie Legend Johny Warren suggested that all games be reviewed via the video.Would certainly curtail the joke that is the Corner with all the holding that goes on. not to mention the disgrace that is the tackle from behind or over the ball
Just imagine what the behaviour of players on the pitch would be if they knew that their every illegal action could result in a post match suuspension
I think the fact that Players still fly in 2 footed or over the ball means they think the odds are they will just get a yellow under the current regime
The fact their being paid millions means their to risk seriously injuring a fellow professional.All very sick IMHO
As for the play acting that plagues football and gives it that SISSY label,
again go to the video cor review it post match.
Better still red card them straight to the
Jurgen Klinsman school of diving now run by Rudi Voeller,somewhere down Tottenham way
