There has been talk that Fifa are to bring in a review panel for diving at the upcoming World Cup where if in the opinion of the panel a player has deliberately dived then he will receive an automatic one match ban.

Personally I think this has been put out for show and I will believe it when I see it but we can live in hope.

Personally I belive Septic Blatter siad whathe was about when he opted for keeping human error in th egame by keeping the farcial ref & 2 linesman to handle the offside rule

Blind freddy saw in 2002 they got it wrong numerous times which figured in the final result

Any other code would be doing backflips to fix it but not football their happy with the human ellement being a determining factor in a match simply because 'Football without REAL Controversy' is dead in the water as a news item

If we are looking at fictional hard men how about Goldfinger, makes as much sense as soap stars who play hardmen. As for the likes of Vinnie Jones and Roy Keane, don't think I'd much like to try giving either a slap as I think they are both hard men and I'd get a harder slap back. Much prefer to slap the likes of Dale Winton who comes across as a right slimy git or Max Clifford who makes his living as a pimp ie makes money from women having sex.

I'm okay with the referees and linesmen being left to do most stuff and for the most part I'm okay with the human error.

Look at the ICC Super Test when most decisions were referred and yet they still managed to get many wrong like Inzamanns lbw on the final day and Matt Hayden who was plumb lbw on the first day.

One was given out and one not. It's not fool proof.

The problem with referees at the World Cup is that the best ones aren't often there as they have this baffling idea that you can't have two refs from the same country hence there's alot of refs from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Togo and the likes. That's fair enough if they are the best in their field but they are not.

Refereeing a local game in Zaire in front of 500 spectators does not prepare anyone for the presuure of a World Cup game played in front of 60,000 with hundreds of millions also watching on TV.

They simply aren't up to the task.

I'm all for TV replays to get rid of cheats and serious foul play but for the rest of the stuff then I'm happy for the refs on the pitch to do it but only if they are up to it.

Good call. I don't particularly like violence although there's a time and place for it and I agree that the thought of landing one on this talentless yob is very appealing indeed. In fact I seem to recall somebody did just that a couple of years ago resulting in him losing his front teeth!! Exceptional work.
