Make it legally binding with Murph's signature- put his paw in the scanner, scan his paw, upload the image and that's HIS official way of saying "I endorse this cause".

If he refuses to put his paw in your scanner, he might not be as up for the cause as you thought ;).

He does have a viable name, though, to 'pass as human' in cyberspace. Sign him up!! Very honourable.

Couple of links:

some of the names had me in tears, and the concept is actually quite clever

I don't think petitions actually do any good on the whole, they're just ignored. In a parliamentary dictatorship you only get one chance to make a vote that counts, and that only counts in the sense it's actually counted - but that won't change the way things are in this country. The unelected Civil Servants run the country, politicians are just in it for a job and a bigger piece of the pie ... they are as powerless as ordinary citizens to effect any real change. Politicians are only there as ornaments on the cake and give the due process of 'democracy' an illusionary face. Que Sera Sera.

Well, if his wee mind had a human manifestation, then I'm sure he'd be with you on those issues; it would be indicative of a sane, rational being.

I'm not going to get political on this forum, don't get me started, my posts would be lenghty bordering on a short novel with my views. Judging by previous topics, I think I would start a riot, even though I'm centre-left! Not quite radical yet, but definitely liberal....

I prefer face-to-face intellectual* tennis! Well, only if I know I can win ;).

*make of that what you will.

for the petition I'd say it wasn't illegal as such (See if they can prove you're not really a "Ms. Fluffykins"), but most email signups have it in their terms and conditions that you won't submit any false information to them (eg, you won't put your pet's name instead of your own).

I'd do it anyway though, as far as I'm aware there's nothing wrong with using a pseudonym.

Nachovx - the Civil Service is very powerful but politicians can and do make a difference.

None of the privatisations would have happened (or the cut in top rate income tax from 60 to 40%) if it hadn't been for Tories.

And the National Minimum Wage, massive investment in the NHS and education, banning fox hunting, winter fuel payment to OAPs wouldn't have happened had it not been for Labour politicians.

That vote once every four year does make a difference - what we don't have, of course, is a system where everyone gets their own perfect government.

... and you would be insane to actually think you can make a difference with a petition. Do you really think the G8 are going to listen

the definition of the word petition is "A formal written document requesting a right or benefit from a person or group in authority." You can't start a petition just to call someone names because you don't agree with a viewpoint - that would be classed as defamation.

Criminal Insanity: A mental defect or disease that makes it impossible for a person to understand the wrongfulness of his acts or, even if he understands them, to distinguish right from wrong. Defendants who are criminally insane cannot be convicted of a crime, since criminal conduct involves the conscious intent to do wrong -- a choice that the criminally insane cannot meaningfully make.

Wouldn't seem like a very smart move to start a 'petition' against somebody who you thought may fall into that category !
