As a Non-smoker it sounds like a good thing but when you delve a little bit deeper there are clearly winners & losers in Business

I understand the reasoning behind blanket bans but you've got to wonder how far it will end up going ie non smoking in public at all?

If only the tobacco companies could make a smoke free cigarette it would all be solved over night!!!!!!

Deuce... there are smoke free cigarettes... they are called nicorette inhalers.

ive had many a green eyed look on long haul flights when i shove it in me gob and all the other smokers think...."der, why didnt i think of that".
Ive also had one woman on a train come up and yell at me cos she thought i was smoking crack.
nicorette inhalers ... good use for non smoking areas.

i dont believe for a minute that making more non smoking areas stops people smoking. I believe it makes for more segragation.
non smoking friends of mine in ireland have said that going to the pub just means that u find yourself on your own every half hour whilst all your mates nip out for a fag.

Gave up smoking 18 months ago and refuse to become one of those anti smoking zealots. When I started smoking in the 60's you never heard anyone complain if you smoked near them, in the cinema, restaurant, bus train or at work. Unless the smell has changed it can only be the propaganda that has turned people into these crazy people who hold up crosses etc if anyone lights up within a mile of them.
If everyone gave up tomorrow, tax on beer and petrol would shoot up to try and cover the loss in revenue. Smoker related illness costs a fraction to the NHS of the revenue tax both on the fags plus income & related tax from manufacture and workers brings in. Also smokers die earlier which saves the country a fortune in pensions and NHS care which the Government is very well aware of. This country cannot afford not to have smokers so although I do not expect anyone to have to put up with smokers blowing their fumes over their food etc don't expect a blanket ban in the near future unless Gordon comes up with another method of screwing tax out of us.

Just proving I'm a non-smoker for any doubting thomases ;-)

I get the impression from smokers its more than just the drug hit that a cigarette gives you,so an inhaler or a patch isn't likely to be a replacement for all.Its more the act itself than the result

I'd liken it to drinking alcohol using that much vaunted newish gadget the Vaporiser.Sure you get the hit/or too much of a hit but it misses the point, you don't drink just to get drunk but to relax and have a good time

it tells a story when the landlord of my local last night, when asked if he was going to stop serving food said 'no, i'm just going to make it a private members club, fifty pence for life membership,' and carry on exactly the way he has for the last five years

nothing will change if you know where to go!

we are Leeds.... , and we can still beat the mighty Chester
